Window Washing Schedule Update

The exterior window cleaning originally scheduled for November 2026 has been postponed to the second half of February 2027. The Board made this decision for two reasons. First, operating expenses have run higher than budgeted this year, and moving the approximately $14,000 cleaning into the next fiscal year will help reduce this year’s operating deficit. Second, cleaning in late February, after San Diego’s wetter months, will keep windows cleaner longer. The Board anticipates cleanings in late February and August 2027.

Some residents have asked about other projects. The garage gate replacement is paid from reserve funds already set aside for the 20+ year-old gate, while window cleaning comes from the operating budget. The EV charging station project is funded entirely by the 25 participating homeowners and does not affect Association funds.

The Board apologizes for the inconvenience and for not communicating this change sooner. For more information, please review the Board Meeting Minutes and budget information on the Alicante Resident Portal.

A Friendly Reminder: Smoke and Noise Travel

At Alicante, we all enjoy living on our patios and balconies. It’s one of the best parts of living in this community, but it’s worth a quick reminder that smoke and noise don’t respect property lines.

Cigarette and marijuana smoke can easily drift from one patio to the next, especially in close-set homes. What feels like a relaxing habit on your own patio can mean closed windows, lingering odors, and disrupted evenings for a neighbor just a few feet away. For residents with asthma, allergies, or other health sensitivities, secondhand smoke isn’t just an inconvenience. It is a genuine health concern. In fact, California added marijuana smoke to its Proposition 65 list of known cancer-causing substances in 2009, and secondhand exposure can also carry the effects of THC. Noise, such as music or barking, can also travel from patios and balconies and down hallways.

We’re not asking anyone to give up their patio time. A little awareness goes a long way:

  • Be mindful of wind direction and how close you are to shared walls, windows, or neighboring patios.
  • Check in with your neighbors if you’re unsure whether smoke is drifting their way or noise can be heard.
  • Consider smoke-free alternatives when you’re close to neighbors.

Small courtesies like these help keep our community comfortable for everyone. Thank you for doing your part to make Alicante a great place for all of us to call home.

In the event you change your email address or phone number, please remember to advise management. This allows us to continue to communicate important reminders to you!

Building Safety

Please make sure to be aware of your surroundings when entering or exiting the HOA.

We cannot stress enough the importance of not allowing unknowns into the building.  Should you notice any suspicious activity or anyone trying to enter the garage or front door, please do not hesitate to call San Diego Police Non-Emergency Number at 619-531-2000.  If someone is waiting by the door and requests you allow them access, advise them they must call their host for access.

Lost Items

Items that are found by the Building Engineer and Janitorial Staff in the garage, lobby, and amenity rooms are turned in to Management. If you believe you have misplaced an item, please contact Management at hmunoz@actionlife.com to check and see if it has been turned in.
